19 institutions are taking part in this year's city game "One, Two, Three - You are a Varsovian" organized by The Warsaw Rising Museum. This year's discoverers of Warsaw's secrets can visit the History Meeting House, the National Museum, the Zoo, and various other places. On July 28 the historic headquarters of Bank Handlowy at Traugutta Street joined the ranks of places to visit.
The central theme of this year's game, "Dream of Warsaw", aims to guide participants in uncovering the great dreams of Warsaw residents in the 20th century: winning freedom and making the capital more and more beautiful. Finalists can count not only on attractive prizes, but above all on the opportunity to get to know little known aspects of their city's history and on identifying with its unique fate - emphasizes the Director The Warsaw Rising Museum, Jan Ołdakowski.
The fourth edition of "One, Two, Three - You are a Varsovian" seeks to familiarize participants with unknown aspects of the history of Warsaw. So, for example, at the Zoo they can learn the name of the first elephant born in Poland, and at the Museum of the Polish Army they can go behind the scenes of the production of the "Błyskawica" submachine gun. On July 28 the historic headquarters of Bank Handlowy at Traugutta Street 7/9 joined the ranks of institutions taking part in the game. Specially prepared "Task Cards" aim to present lesser known aspects of the history of Poland's longest-operating bank, Bank Handlowy, and of its founder Leopold Kronenberg and his family.
We are taking part in the game "One, Two, Three - You are a Varsovian" already for the third time, says Krzysztof Kaczmar, President of The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation, which is serving as the patron of the game. Our institution has generated a lot of interest; last year 166 families, or over 700 people, visited us. We are trying to ensure that the task cards presented by us are interesting for game participants. Moreover, volunteers that are serving our institution are ready to answer questions and satisfy the curiosity of visitors, he adds.
"One, Two, Three - You are a Varsovian" is a game organized in the summer to promote active spending of leisure time in the city. Although it is geared for children, the organizers invite entire families to participate. It involves visiting at least 8 out of 19 places and correctly answering the questions on the "Task Cards". The first step is to register on the webpage www.razdwatrzywarszawiak.pl. Every registered person receives an identification number by email. Under the tab "Download and Play" one has to choose "Task Cards". They are available in two versions: basic (for young children) and advanced (for older children). In order to take part in the game, one has to print out the appropriate card for each institution chosen as well as a "Card of Codes". When all passwords are found in the "Card of Codes", it has to be put into a special box found in each of the participating institutions.
This year's game "One, Two, Three - You are a Varsovian" is accompanied by two additional contests - one for those who are persistent (i.e. those who visit all 19 places) and another one for the most interesting photography-art blog.
