Citi Handlowy was ranked first in the ninth edition of the Ranking of Responsible Companies in the banking, insurance and financial sectors category. The Bank earned the highest score, which is the sum of the points in the five audited categories - responsible leadership, community involvement, communication with stakeholders, and social innovation and responsible management. The Ranking of Responsible Companies has been prepared for many years by the daily newspaper Gazeta Prawna, in cooperation with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
"Although ethics and responsible business are not about winning awards and titles, today's distinction is particularly important for us as it confirms that the principles we have established over the years are the best practices on the market," said Sławomir S. Sikora, Citi Handlowy CEO. "What's more, this ranking is recognition of our consistency in holding to these principles in relations with our clients, business partners, investors and within our company, with each other. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the employees of Citi Handlowy, who, when carrying out their daily tasks, adhere to these important principles, which not only allows us to stand on the podium today, but, first and foremost, allows us to remain a trustworthy and reliable partner for our clients."
The Ranking of Responsible Companies is a list of the largest companies in Poland, assessed in terms of the quality of corporate social responsibility (CSR) management. This year's survey included several dozen questions aimed at assessing a company's operations in four areas: responsible leadership, community involvement, communication with stakeholders, and social innovation and responsible management. The experts from PwC were responsible for verifying the results.
What gave Citi Handlowy its top position?
The bank has been recognized for its high level of community involvement, resulting in many CSR projects that have been carried out since 1996 through The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation. The auditors also noted the high standards in employee relations, with diversity remaining one of the key values. Today, more than half of Citi Handlowy managers are women. At the same time, the bank has made intensive efforts to enhance its brand as an employer, and remains one of the most active financial institutions in terms of the number of students and graduates doing paid placements and internships. The bank has also been highly rated for the transparency of the rules it applies in cooperation with its clients, as well as with business partners and subcontractors. Citi Handlowy is still one of the few financial institutions on the market that consistently communicate with customers without so-called asterisks and hooks. This principle applies not only when products and services are being advertised, but also at the design stage. And it also extends to the remuneration system for the bank's employees, who have been rewarded for the quality of relations with customers, and not for their sales of high-margin products. The leading position in the ninth Ranking of Responsible Companies by the Gazeta Prawna newspaper, next to the Respect INDEX, is yet further proof of the bank's consistent CSR policy.
