RESPECT Index for Citi Handlowy

It is the ninth time that Citi Handlowy has been included in the prestigious RESPECT Index, which lists companies that are managed in a responsible and sustainable manner. Since 2009, when the Index was established, the bank has continuously been included in the group of the most socially responsible listed companies.

The ceremony summing up the 9th edition of the RESPECT Index project was held on 16 December at the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The diploma for Citi Handlowy was collected by Barbara Sobala, Vice President of the Management Board of Citi Handlowy: The fact that we were yet again included in the RESPECT Index proves that the socially responsible policy of our bank and high corporate governance standards are invariably highly assessed by the market. For us, the standards set by the Respect Index are not a matter of fashion or 12-month ambition, but a fixed part of our organizational culture; part of the way in which we build trust in our clients, partners and investors, said Barbara Sobala.

Citi Handlowy maintains its position on the market as one of the CSR leaders. It is currently running the largest employee volunteering program in Poland, which has been consistently developed for more than 10 years. The program is coordinated by The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation. Since the launch of this program, our employees have implemented over 1600 projects offering assistance to more than 200 000 people. These are the activities which help us build our position in the Respect Index, says Krzysztof Kaczmar, President of the Management Board of The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation.

RESPECT Index is the first index of responsible companies in Central and Eastern Europe. It was created by the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Companies that want to be selected for this ranking should demonstrate high standards with respect to corporate governance, information policy and investor relations. They should also be active in the field of ecology, corporate social responsibility and employee-related matters, i.e. factors which constitute an integral part of the bank's business strategy.
