Plantalux, the creator of advanced technology supporting the growth of greenhouse plants, has been named the Microentrepreneur of the Year. The other companies awarded by the judging panel of the 15th edition of the competition are: BACTrem Sp. z o.o. - inventor of the innovative preparation to remove soil and groundwater contamination, Fundacja £±ka (Meadow Foundation) - producer of an anti-smog meadow, Pracownia Cukiernicza (Confectionery Workshop) ?Zago¼dziński? - operating since 1925 r., producing doughnuts based on a traditional recipe, and Solace Sp. z o.o. - company which offers houses that are self-sufficient energetically. The competition is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology.
The Microentrepreneur of the Year 2019, Plantalux, is the producer of LED lamps and an accompanying intelligent steering system to be used in greenhouses. Their solution reduces the costs of electricity 3 times as compared to traditional lighting.

The tremendous importance of the Citi Microentrepreneurship Award is proven by, first of all, the companies we reward and their achievements, and, secondly, the number and high quality of products and services of companies entering the competition. This year it was a record breaking number: as many as 241 entrepreneurs. It is worth noting that each of those registered in the competition demonstrated high creativity and entrepreneurship, said S³awomir S. Sikora, President of the Management Board of Citi Handlowy, during the award ceremony. I am contented that there are such diverse business ideas among the rewarded companies, he adds.

START BACTrem Sp. z o.o - company developing new biotechnologies, including preparations for biodegradation - removal of soil and groundwater contamination using live microorganisms in order to catalyze, destroy or transform different types of contamination into less toxic forms. Its offer also includes preparations rebuilding the fertility of soil fertilized with pesticides.

YOUNG BUSINESS Solace House Sp. z o.o. - a startup offering prefabricated houses of the area of 45 m2. Everything the future owner needs to create this type of building is delivered in one container. It is all made of wood, the roof is intended to have photovoltaic shingles, which make the house entirely self-sufficient energetically. The building is the result of research on energy saving buildings.

Microentrepreneurship Award
The Microentrepreneurship Award competition is to award owners of companies which successfully run a traditional or innovative business, deep-rooted in local communities. Organized since 2005, this year it is operated for the second time by the Association Inicjatywa Firm Rodzinnych (Family Business Initiative). The competition is organized in partnership with Citi Handlowy (strategic partner) and The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation (professional partner), and it is financed from the funds of the Citi Foundation. The competition is also supported by the Coalition for Microentrepreneurship, composed of renowned business institutions and organizations.
