The coronavirus pandemic has shown how much there has to be done in the area of digital education and, most importantly, cyber security and the application of new technologies in organizing interesting and engaging classes for kids and teenagers. The CyberMocn@ Szkoła (CyberStrong School) project is dedicated to early school education teachers, tutors, and English teachers. The project is organized by the Kronenberg Foundation at Citi Handlowy. The project is partnered by the Early Stage school of English for kids and teenagers.
The program of professional trainings was prepared based on the in-depth analysis of the teachers' needs in the time of COVID-19 and it aims at supporting them in their everyday tasks. The purpose of the project is to equip the participants with tools and technological solutions streamlining their everyday work with students (also online). Additionally, the program aims at providing them with knowledge about cyber security, focusing on how to navigate the virtual world in order to avoid various related threats.
According to Dorota Szostek-Rustecka, President of the Management Board of the Citi Handlowy Foundation: Since the closing of schools, we have heard voices that remote education was quite a challenge for parents, children, and also teachers. At the same time, we were watching the teachers of foreign languages with appreciation, as they were the first to adapt to the new circumstances. Citi Handlowy, in turn, has rich experience in the implementation of educational projects concerning cyber security. We decided, therefore, to make use of those experiences and we designed the CyberStrong School project on navigating the cyberspace in a safe way and using its potential for the development of a school and everyday teaching.
Tonia Bochińska, co-founder of the Early Stage school of English, emphasizes that remote education is a challenge that schools of the 21st century have to face. As she recalls: At the very beginning of the pandemic, after schools were closed, we didn't think we would succeed in shifting tens of thousands of our students to remote teaching. We had little time to come up with a formula that would suit both parents, and students themselves. We managed to do it. Presently, we are polishing our teaching model, both in the traditional and remote systems. I think that, as a responsible company, we are obliged to share the gained knowledge. This is why we are present in the CyberStrong School project.
During the training sessions carried out between October 2020 and April 2021, teachers participating in the project will be provided with lesson scenarios, access to thematic webinars and podcasts. The trainings will be conducted by renowned specialists in particular fields.
At the end, participants will receive certificates confirming their participation in the project.
