On 25 March 2006 in the seat of Agora one hundred lower and upper secondary school students from all over Poland fought for the title of Investor of the Year in the final round of the economic knowledge competition "My Finances - From Classroom to Big Money". The winner was ROMILE investment committee set up by upper secondary school students from Poznań. Second came the lower secondary school students from Białystok. The upper secondary school students from Lublin ranked third. Prizes were presented by: Witold Zieliński, Vice President of Citibank Handlowy, Paweł Samecki, Member of the Management Board of the National Bank of Poland and Włodzimierz Grudziński from Junior Achievement Foundation.
The competition was the workshop part of the education program called "My Finances" run by Gazeta Wyborcza, the Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation, National Bank of Poland and Junior Achievement Foundation. It was launched in January 2006. The participants included over 35 thousand students and about 7.5 thousand teachers. Teenagers invested virtual PLN 100 thousand to earn the highest possible return: they bought and sold shares, bonds, used bank deposits as well as invested in foreign currencies, gold or investment funds. The best investment result (33 thousand zlotys) achieved in such a short period of time as two months by Young Brokers from the Lower Secondary School in Siedliszcze won appreciation of professional analysts.
The nationwide final, at which young people demonstrated impressive knowledge on the principles of economy, capital markets and law, was preceded by semi-finals held in 20 cities, in which Citibank Handlowy volunteers from all over Poland were involved.
