Bank Handlowy w Warszawie S.A. was founded in 1870 by Leopold Kronenberg, the entrepreneur and philanthropist. It is the oldest commercial bank in Poland and one of the oldest European banks acting without any interruption. Since 2001, the bank has been part of the global financial institution Citi and operates in Poland under the Citi Handlowy brand. The bank offers a wide and modern range of corporate, investment and retail banking products and services. As a member of Citi, Citi Handlowy offers its customers access to financial services in almost 100 countries.
The strategic majority shareholder of the bank is Citibank Europe Plc with its registered office in Dublin, Ireland – Citigroup company that holds the group's overseas investments. In addition, the bank focuses on the acquisition of new clients (including so-called new economics participants – software producing companies) and active strengthening relations with the existing clients from selected industries. The bank’s sound capital position and its landmark network of international connections is also appreciated by consumer banking clients. The bank uses its competitive edge in this regard to foster its leader position in net worth clients banking. Aimdriven, the bank is constantly developing its offer for Citigold clients and a unique offer - Citigold Private Client, which was launched at the end of 2015 for the most affluent clients.
