Credit Cards

When repaying the debt on the card account resulting from cashless transactions fully and according to the schedule, you use the interest-free credit. This means that you will pay back exactly the same amount you will spend on your shopping in a settlement period. At Citi Handlowy, the interest-free period is 56 days for cashless transactions. The period begins on the first day of the cycle, that is after the last statement is issued, and ends 26 days after the next statement is issued, the cut-off date is the date of repayment of the debt balance provided for in the statement.

Example: A card with the cycle falling on the 10th day of each month.
Interest-free period means: 30 days of the cycle (i.e. from the 11th day of the preceding month to the 10th day of the current month) + 26 days – the repayment term of the debt resulting from the statement generated on the 10th day of the current month = 56 days.

It is an optional time and it is reduced with each day closer to the cycle end date, which means that a transaction settled in the card account on the 11th day of a month will involve 56 days of the interest period, that is the optimum time, whereas a transaction settled on the very next day will involve an interest-free period shorter by one day.

The interest calculation formula is as follows: Transaction amount x interest rate x numer of days /365 or 366 (actual numer of calendar days in the year). The current interest rates are available on the website https://www.citibank.pl/en/interest-rates.html

Cards are settled in monthly cycles. The cycle day is assigned individually to each card and means a day on which a statement is generated including transactions booked in the card from the day following the day on which the last statement was generated until the end of the current cycle.

An example of a card for which the settlement cycle falls on the 10th day of each month – the statement generated on 10th March will include transactions booked in the card account from 11th February to 10th March.

The statement is generated at night after the booking activities are complete. If a cycle ends on a day that is not a working day, the statement will be generated on the last working day before the end of the cycle.

When you receive a statement, you don’t have to repay the whole debt, but only the minimum amount.

Minimum Amount Due – the minimum amount indicated in the Statement which the Client is obliged to pay to the Bank at the latest on the day provided for in such Statement; The Minimum Amount Due is calculated as the equivalent of:

• amount of monthly principal and interest installments under the ‘Comfort’ Installment Payment Plan;
• amount of the interest charged for a given billing period;
• amount of the overrun of the Credit Limit at the time of issuance of a given Statement;
• outstanding Minimum Amounts Due but not repaid in the previous periods; and
• 2% on the Outstanding Balance specified in the Statement less the components listed above;
• however not less than PLN 30.

If you repay an amount lower than the debt balance, interest will be charged from the date of every transaction to its repayment date.

Using the card every day, you can make free of charge transactions which are covered by the interest-free period. These are:

• payments for goods and services at shops;
• payments without the physical presence of the card, e.g. online transactions or orders submitted by telephone or in writing;
• contactless payments (except for cash withdrawals from EuroNet ATMs)

Credit Card transactions executed abroad are settled in 2 steps. In simple and transparent terms:

• STEP 1: currency conversion at the rate determined by the card organization (VISA/MasterCard).
• STEP 2: adding the fee of the Bank – 5.8% of transaction value for all Credit Cards except Citibank MasterCard World Signia Ultime/Citibank World Elite MasterCard Ultime cards, for which no fee applies.

Some service providers offer the possibility to execute transactions through DCC Dynamic Currency Conversion. The 2% DCC covers foreign transactions in the case of which instead of paying in a foreign currency the Client uses the conversion made by the service provider/store, that is DCC (Dynamic Currency Conversion).

You can block your card by logging in to Citibank Online to the section Zarządzanie kartami (Card management) -> select the card which you want to block -> Zarządzaj (Manage) -> Zastrzeż kartę (Block the card).
A new card will be issued within 2 working days. If a card is lost abroad, the client may receive cash or a replacement card within 2 working days. This service is provided by the card issuer: Visa or MasterCard.

In order to change the limit on your credit card free of charge, you may submit the appropriate instruction: in Citibank Online in the section Zarządzanie kartami (Card management) -> select the card for which the limit should be changed and click Zarządzaj (Manage) -> Credit limit Change.

In order to reduce the limit on a credit card, write us a message via Citibank Online. The limit amount cannot be lower than the current Debt Balance on the card. Please remember that if you wish to increase the limit in the future, we will require valid documents confirming your income.
